UK Firework Regulations at a Glance

You cannot buy fireworks if you are under 18. Adult fireworks are generally category 2 or 3. Category 4 is for professionals.
Fireworks may only be bought from registered sellers for private use on specific dates: 15 October to 10 November; 26 to 31 December; and three days before Diwali and Chinese New Year. Outside these windows, purchases are from licensed shops.
It is illegal to set off or throw fireworks in streets or public places between 11pm and 7am, with exceptions on Bonfire Night (midnight) and New Year’s Eve/Diwali/Chinese New Year (1am). Check local council rules for any additional restrictions.
